What people say
Locked myself out at 11pm with the baby asleep inside. He talked me through it on the phone, told me which van was closest, and had the door open without a mark on it. I was told what it would cost before he started, which at that hour is not what I expected.
Sarah M.Brunswick Rekeyed every lock in the house the week we moved in — front, back, laundry, garage side door — all onto one key. He also pointed out that the sliding door lock was basically decorative and sorted that while he was here.
Daniel K.Glen Waverley Lost the only key to my car in a basement car park. He came down to the car, cut and programmed a new one on the spot, no tow truck and no dealership. He asked for my registration papers first, which honestly made me trust him more, not less.

Before you call
Do you have a shop I can come to?
No, and that is deliberate. Fix Mate is fully mobile — the machines, the stock and the tools live in the van, so the work happens at your door instead of at a counter. It also means there is no shop closing time, which is why we can answer at 3am.
How much will it cost?
You will be told before any work starts, and not before someone has seen the lock. There are no prices anywhere on this site on purpose: a real quote depends on the lock, the door, the time of day and where you are, and a number on a web page would be wrong more often than it was right.
Which suburbs do you cover?
We cover 110 Melbourne suburbs, from the CBD out to roughly 32 km — the inner ring, the north, the east, the south east, the west and the bayside. If your suburb is not listed, call anyway; the honest answer about where the nearest van is takes ten seconds.
Will you damage my lock getting in?
In the large majority of residential lockouts, no. Non-destructive entry is always what we try first because it is faster and it leaves you with a working lock. Where a lock genuinely cannot be opened intact, you will hear that before we start rather than after.
Do you do car keys as well as house keys?
Yes, including transponder and proximity keys cut and programmed at the vehicle. It is a genuinely different skill set from house locks — different equipment, different training, and proof the car is yours before anything starts — but it is the same van and the same number, and it sits with everything else we do on the services page.
How do I know you are legitimate?
We ask you to prove the property or the vehicle is yours, every single time, before anything is opened. A locksmith who does not ask is not protecting you — and that check is the most reliable signal you have at the door.
